Morty was the type of dog that would make anyone who encountered him smile.  He followed my daughter home while she was on a walk with one of her dogs.

My daughter called me while out on her walk, saying, “Dad, this little black dog is following us.  What should I do? He doesn’t have a collar on, so no way to know who owns him.” I said, “just let him follow you, and we’ll deal with it.”

We did end up finding the owner who said that she’d be willing to give him up.

After having him for two weeks by then, there was no question that we were already smitten.

I had the privilege of being able to take him with me everywhere I went, and because of this, he made SO many people smile.

I have had dogs my whole life, but without a doubt, Morty was the tip-top best ever!  I love you Morty, and your Mama, and I will see you again someday.
