Dog Boarding Prices: Surveyed 30 Companies Across The U.S.

Are you thinking about boarding your dog for the first time? I was curious about boarding Bella on our next vacation rather than having a family member watch her.

After doing some research, I decided to create a resource for all dog owners to get an idea of what a Boarding will cost them, without having to put their email in anywhere to get a quote.

Dog Boarding Prices: Surveyed 30 Companies Across The U.S.
Me and Bella taking a car ride.

Here is what I found out…

What is dog boarding?

Dog boarding is merely having your dog watched by someone else typically for an extended period.

Dog boarding used to be a large kennel with cages, but today there a dog hotels in nearly every major city. No pet owner wants to leave their dogs in a dungy looking kennel for a few days or weeks when they are on vacation or out of town. Our pets are family and leaving them in comfort while we are away is our main concern.

Different Boarding Options

Today there are several different boarding options you can find online. These options range from someone coming to your home to stay with your dog, even overnight. Or you can have your dog go to someone else’s home. And as always, you can take your dog to a Dog Daycare/ Boarding company.

Having someone watch your dog in your own home is a great option. Emily and I would do when we would leave Bella home while we went away on vacation. Luckily enough, we have friends and family that could watch her for a week at a time for only $150.00, not a bad deal.

If you do not have the luxury of having friends or family to watch your dog in your own home you should check out Rover. Rover is a site where you can hire dog sitters to come into your home and watch your dog while you are away. You can even have the sitters spend the night. Check out Rover’s site here and get $10.00 off your first booking, Rover.com.

Cost of Boarding Your Dog

After looking at 30 companies around the United States, there are a lot of stipulations as well as discounts when it comes to pricing. However, the difference in price due to these stipulations isn’t much. It is good to be aware of the price stipulations. For consistency in my research, I only collected pricing on dogs 25 lbs or less. Because some companies charge more for larger dogs.

Also, It is essential to know there are discounts you can find at a lot of dog daycare and boarding facilities. These discounts can be for:

  • Multiple Dogs
  • Discount For Multiple Stays
  • Book In Advance Discount
  • Discounts If You Have A Membership With Them
  • Military Discounts
  • Discounts If You Also Pay For Dog Walking Service

Since there are many different discounts, I have chosen to only collect the cost of a per day stay and a per night stay. This will give you a consistent answer when comparing prices near you.

Final thoughts…

Dog boarding is a must at some point in your dog’s life. Thankfully finding someone to watch your fur baby couldn’t be easier. There are many options out there to have someone watch your dog these days. This is all thanks to apps like Rover as well as pet sitting websites like DogVacay.com. You can have someone watch your dog in your home, or your dog can be watched at another person’s home or place of business.

Thankfully the pricing of services like these is relatively inexpensive. Also, you know no matter where you go the pricing is pretty much the same, especially when comparing all the prices of the 30 companies listed in this article, the variation in pricing was pretty small.
