Rescues In Virginia
Boston Terrier Rescues In Virginia
There are many rescues all over the United States and the world. Here is the only one I could find operating in Virginia.
If you want a list of other rescues, check out this article I put together, Boston Rescues in the U.S. & Canada.
Old Dominion Boston Terrier Rescue
This Adopt-a-Pet.com approved shelter is passionate about rescuing unwanted Boston Terriers. Old Dominion Rescue adopts dogs out to a variety of states including;
- Virginia
- Northeastern North Carolina
- Delaware
- Maryland
- Washington D.C.
The Old Dominion Boston Terrier Rescue works hard to educate others’ on proper nutrition for dogs and will likely ask you about what you plan to feed your adopted Boston Terrier.
Cost of Adoption
Depending on the health and age of the dog, the adoption donation is between $100 to $500.
How To Adopt From This Rescue
Be prepared to discuss what you are feeding your adopted dog. Old Dominion is very against diets heavy in corn and corn byproducts, as many Boston Terriers are sensitive to these ingredients and they can cause gas and hyperactivity.
This shelter has seen many Boston Terriers that are labeled as “behavioral problems” change overnight with a healthy diet.
Old Dominion will not adopt out to a home that plans on feeding their dog over manufactured, unhealthy dog food.
See their adoption form here.
Personal and veterinary references are required.

Learn More About Adopting From A Boston Terrier Rescue
If you are curious about the process of adopting a Boston Terrier from a rescue, listen to this podcast episode from the Boston Terrier Society.
I had the pleasure to talk with Tara, the Vice President of the Southern Cross Boston Terrier Rescue out of Jackson, Tennessee.
In this episode of the podcast, Tara talks about the steps you will need to take when adopting a Boston Terrier from her rescue.
Even if you are not getting a Boston from her rescue, the steps will be similar across the country.
Final thoughts…
Adopting a Boston Terrier in need of a home is one of the most amazing things you could do for an animal. While the process may seem tedious at first, it is well worth the wait.
The rescues are going to be with you every step of the way in this process. And the rescues are there to help you after the adoption as well if you ever have any questions.
