10 Things Only Boston Parents Would Understand

10 Things Only Boston Terrier Parents Would Understand

If you have been a Boston Terrier parent for a few weeks chances are you have seen a couple of these traits in your cute little pup.

10. Sunspots

Boston Terriers actually run on solar, and all food is just a bonus! Many would argue that the reason why a Boston loves lazing in the sun is because of their need for warmth. As short-haired breeds, Bostons tend to be less tolerant of cold than other breeds.

So when they feel warm air and sunrays on their bodies, it must feel like a very comforting experience. Alternatively, some speculate that they simply enjoy soaking up the Vitamin D from the sun! Either way, these gentle fur babies seem to really appreciate a good lazy snooze in the sunshine.

9. Cocked Head

They may look at your funny if you say something stupid! Boston Terriers have an adorable quirk — they often tilt their heads when they are trying to make sense of something. This seems like a kind of questioning behavior, as if a Boston is wondering why we humans just don’t understand basic things.

Researchers believe that the head-tilting behavior is triggered by sound waves more than anything else. Their ears swivel around, searching for the source of certain noises, and this causes them to tilt their heads in curiosity.

It’s not just sound waves that can cause this reaction either; visual cues such as moving objects or unfamiliar people often cause the same reaction too. The mystery of why Boston Terriers tilt their heads may never fully be understood, but it’s certainly an endearing quality that we all love about these dogs!

8. Not Afraid To Speak Their Mind

If you are not giving them the attention they need they will let you know. Or if they don’t want to do something, like going potty in the rain, they will tell you.

Sometimes the best sleeping position is not the one that looks the most comfortable. Here is Bella tucked in like a little taco.

6. Reverse Sneezing

No, my dog is not choking, it’s having a reverse sneeze episode!

One behavior that may be a bit worrisome and curious at first is reverse sneezing. Reverse sneezing in Bostons occurs when the muscles spasm at the back of the dog’s throat, and they make an odd snorting sound. Typically lasting only a few seconds, this event is not dangerous and is often caused by allergies or excitement.

Thankfully it can often be quickly stopped by lightly rubbing or massaging your pup’s throat until it passes. With a better understanding of why Boston reverse sneeze, owners can relax in knowing that this isn’t an emergency but is simply a loud expression of joy for their pup!

Boston Terriers have human tendencies and nothing is more evident than when they sleep under the covers in their bed.

2. Poop Chain

Yes, the infamous poop chain because your Boston swallowed a hair. While I have had some people say they never experienced this, chances are they might not have long hair.

1. Zoomies

Also known as the “witching hour”! Bella’s witching hour used to be at 9:00 pm every night.

The Boston zoomie is an amusing and energetic display of joy that the breed is known for. It involves frantic running, often in circles or around a room, as the dog jumps up and down excitedly. Some refer to this as a “zoom” because it looks like they are soaring through the air with energy and enthusiasm.

This kind of behavior is most often seen when playing outdoors or when a beloved toy or treat is brought out – both activities that should be encouraged in order to keep your pup healthy and happy.

For owners who love their Bostons, these pet zoomies bring a smile to the face, no matter how much effort it takes to wear out those powerful little legs!
